Uncorking leadership, learning, and the conversations that move schools forward.
If you’re looking for a blog filled with polished buzzwords, color-coded frameworks, and the latest educational acronym, this might not be your place.
Then again, maybe it is.
Maybe the strongest leaders love a color-coded framework. Maybe they use it with precision, care, and a healthy respect for the humans behind the data. Maybe they know every acronym in the alphabet because they’re brilliant, organized, efficient, and oddly enthusiastic about letters.
Maybe polished buzzwords aren’t always the enemy. Sometimes they are the price of admission to rooms that weren’t built for everyone. Sometimes they help leaders get a seat at the table. Then, once they’re there, they quietly dismantle the unnecessary complexity from the inside, like a well-dressed Trojan horse.
Around here, we’re less interested in choosing between strategy and humanity, systems and relationships, rigor and joy. We believe the most powerful word in leadership isn’t but. It’s and.
You can love a good framework and know people matter more than spreadsheets.
You can believe in data and dignity.
You can be strategic and compassionate.
You can be serious about outcomes and not take yourself too seriously.
That’s probably where Edutipsy lives. Somewhere in the and. Welcome.
So… What Is Edutipsy?
If you’re looking for honest conversations about leading schools, building systems, coaching people, improving outcomes for kids, surviving burnout, challenging assumptions, and occasionally pairing those lessons with a glass of Cabernet or a cup of coffee…
Edutipsy is what happens when educational leadership, practical wisdom, and a little bit of wine culture collide.
It’s a place for:
- School leaders trying to build systems that actually work
- Teachers who love kids but are tired of systemic nonsense
- Coaches who know relationships matter as much as strategy
- People who believe equity requires action, not slogans
- Educators who laugh because sometimes the alternative is crying
Most importantly, it’s for people who understand that leadership is both deeply serious and deeply human.
You can care passionately about outcomes for students and still laugh at the absurdity of a six-hour meeting that could have been an email. You might also have to cringe because YOU led that six-hour meeting.
You can love education and your job, and still want to quit 2x’s a week. Leading, teaching, and supporting students in schools is not for the weak. You can be committed to excellence without pretending everything is fine.
That’s Edutipsy. I don’t need a glass of wine to tell you all my secrets. I just find it pairs nicely with a good conversation.
What You’ll Find Here
Vision & Vino
Long-term strategy, change management, and leadership lessons.
Every leader needs a vision. Like a good vintage, the best ideas take time to develop, improve with reflection, and leave a lasting impression.
Wine & Wisdom
Practical leadership and instructional tips you can use tomorrow.
No complicated jargon. No 87-page manuals. Just good ideas paired with better questions.
Smart Takes & Tips
The lesson they forgot to put in the PD slides.
Building trust. Managing energy. Making decisions. Leading humans. Translating research into reality. Applying policies with wisdom and common sense.
Tiered & Tipsy
Conversations about MTSS, intervention, special education, and supporting students who need us most.
Compliance matters. Success matters more. Every student deserves the right support at the right time, not just another meeting about support.
Equity & Essence
Exploring equity, belonging, antiracist leadership, and the systems we build.
Not because it’s trendy. Because students deserve it. A skilled sommelier knows every wine doesn’t belong in the same glass. Great leaders understand the same principle. Success comes from knowing what is needed, when it is needed, and why it matters.
What Edutipsy Believes
A few things you’ll hear repeatedly around here:
Growth Happens in the middle. Meaningful work is rarely linear. Growth, change, and improvement can look messy before they look successful. That’s normal. Stay in it.
Pair Data with People. Data matters. People matter too.
A score on a test without context tells an incomplete story. A relationship without evidence can lead us astray. The best leaders pair data with deep knowledge of students, staff, and families.
Neither is enough on its own. Together, they reveal what’s possible.
Relationships Are Infrastructure. Culture isn’t a poster, a retreat, or a slogan. It’s the daily interactions, shared experiences, and small moments that build trust over time.
Relationships aren’t soft work. They’re infrastructure.
Joy Is a Strategy. The best experiences aren’t just productive. They’re memorable.
Schools should be too. Joy isn’t a distraction from the work. It’s often what sustains the work when things get hard.
A Quick Toast
If you are a teacher, coach, principal, district leader, charter operator, care giver, or someone who just cares deeply about education…
Thank you for continuing to believe that schools can be places of possibility.
My hope is that Edutipsy becomes a space where you find practical ideas, honest reflection, many laughs, a wine recommendation, or maybe a reminder that you’re not carrying this work alone.
So, I ask again “Can we grab a drink?” Go pour yourself something.
Coffee. Tea. Wine.
Sparkling water.
Whatever works.
And let’s talk about education.
All of it.
